Looks like I've done a head gasket. Has any one removed the cylinder head of a 98 4.5lt Patrol before?
Since the heads are of I'm going to look at doing some head word. Any recommendations....

I recently installed a Reconditioned Head on a TB45.
Make sure that you get a new set of Head Bolts
I personally would get a Reconditioned Head
Follow the instructions carefully in respect of tightening down the Head
If you are in Melbourne try Cave Engine Services for a reconditioned Head.

Thanks for the info Bob. Can I asked how much it cost you and did you do it ur self. Yeah I heard that about the head bolts. When I get the head of I'm going to get it crack tested and refurbished. Hopefully its not cracked.

No I had it done by a Mechanic. Refurbished Head costs $1,500 . The Labour cost about the same

yeah I thought as much. I'm trying to cut costs by doing all the tedious stuff my self. Doing this hopefully I'll have some extra money to get the heads modified. I've already got a K&N air filter, pacemaker extractors and 2 1/2 inch Tiapan exhaust system. All of these have made a great improvement.

Well, project - replace cylinder head because I'm a fucktard - is now in full swing. Cars in bits. My poor Troll. The fun will be putting it back together when I get the head back. Sorry I cant upload a pic. Having trouble.

Hope it goes OK mate.

I cannot emphasise enough that when you replace the Head that you tighten down as per instructions with your Gasket set. It is about three times that you have to tighten to specs and then loosen off

What do you mean by "That site is closed"???, the manual I linked is hosted by this forum and should be downloadable

Good luck with the repair

Well, got word back from the reconditioning dude who says that the head is not cracked. It could possible be the gasket but nothing is obvious. Head needs to be machined and reco'ed anyway. Should get it back on Tues hopefully. Then operation, 'put trol back together because im a fucktard' starts. Should be fun, not.... Apparently there are no modification which can be done to the head which would improve performance, bugger.

Gday team, well the head and everything else is on however...... there still appears to be some water still in the oil. I am hoping that it is just the residue.
