Went to toolangi area and in the middle of nowhere on some track we come across a gigantic hippy community festival.

Here's one photo and this went on for at least 400m. There were some pretty messed up people using pipes for ice etc.

Would of been easy 400 people there and 100-200 cars tents caravans trucks and campers.

There was also a fully burnt out caravan still hitched on the car which we found out they had an electrical fault on stove...lol

We just had had to drive straight through this community with peace hand gestures flying everywhere. ;)

Some pretty hot looking free loving babes too...lol

Reminds me of my first time in Toolangi when we ran into a similar site. But a bit further up the road were cops, as some of the greenies chained them selves up to dozers, excavators and other tree clearing machinery.
And here we are a convoy of 4x4's with chainsaws, axes and shovels on some roof racks. LOL Quickest U turn ever.

Fitted my new (to me anyway), rear LED light pole from Kallen, also fitted two floodlight LED work lights to my rack for camp light and to see the side of tracks if required, wired up neatly with two rocker switches in my console.

Also fitted some new speakers from Supercheap, 6 inch Sony two ways for $19.95 a pair! They sound a lot better than the old 8 watt paper done ones that I took out, course the fact the cones were no longer attached / torn right round the edge probably didn't help their audio quality much!

Thanks Bacho. It's just the install. The snorkel is a high quality bit of gear, very happy with it and the kit has everything you need to do it. I'd probably make the following comments;

- There's no instructions. Although if you're prepared chop your own guard up with an air hacksaw, then you'll proably be abe to work it out.
- The template doesn't quite line up properly, but I just cut it a tad small then adjusted from there.
- There's 3 x 6mm bolts that go through the A pillar, and there's 3 x 5mm bolts that go into the snorkel and in the kit they gave me 6 x 6mm bolts, so I need to source 3 x 5mm SS bolts (not a big deal)
- The ram head is pretty light and doesn't feel overly strong, see how it goes.

The pipework is good, bends and welds are excellent. The power coat finish is top class. Even the supplied hose clamps are good quality and the A pilar bracket is also great quality.

All in all very happy with it, but unless you've installed them before probably best to allow a bit extra time.

re-did my Dawes plumbing this time taking boost from an adaptor under the OE boost sensor.
My boost was lower, a lot lower and I needed to adjust it again, dont know why.
I haven't choked any tubes with cable ties.
Before my boost was taken from under the IC tapped into the alloy housing.
I'll see how things go, but still curious as to why.
I have more 1/8th fittings coming so I may go back to where it was, we'll see

This was my concern when I serviced my car here with Jonothan, as no much room for the filter tool/strap, but mine luckily were all hand tight...

I went out to glasshouse on saturday a mate was having a shoot with 4wd action. The tracks are pretty chewed. Little red looks easily doable but the small rise before the bottom of big red has a decent hole that leans you towards the drop.

Where/how did you mount it?
Back left hand corner in the engine bay. I dont have abs or dual zone a/c so theres no much there in that spot. I can take a pic if you like.
And how i mounted it was i used a small piece of ally angle and mounted the can to this and then the angle screwed into the firewall sill. Kinda like a ledge or seam along the firewall.

Then solder,, fit a switch and hopefully my DRL's will work.[ bigger fuse] These are mainly for wet freeway/HWY conditions.

Took off the 2 steel plates under the winch. They were showing signs of a bit of rust and the Nissan paint was lifting.
Cut the paint and rust back to shiny steel, painted then with Septone rust converter them sprayed the with rust shield.

Bolted the z looking plate to the main one and sprayed the bolts with the rsut shield.
Now all back in place.

Next some of the front wheel arches. Getting the plastic panel bits of looks like a nuisance.

Also loaded new steel cable back onto the 9500lb winch. Had to replace the old cable before the new winch goes on.
Put on a 44.7kN, (4.6t), min breaking force cable from Nobel's rope.

For clay bar, you need to use a lubricant. You can use one of those quick detailer sprays, or 50/50 metho/water or just soapy water.
Spray on lubricant, working in a foot square area, rub clay on car, in a wave style fashion. Keep turning the bit of clay so that you are using a clean bit constantly. Then wipe the area clean with a micro fiber cloth. Repeat if you missed bits.

You can actually feel how much smother the areas you have done are. Make a few passes on each area to get the best results (spray clay a few times then clean just once)

Whet Hurley said. Yes, but with the detailed sprayed on first it's just a matter of flattening it out and rubbing over a wet surface. A bit like sand papering just no where near as long.

Lots of square feet. Fortunately the body of the patrol is a decent amount away from the wheels so not a whole lot of grime gets on the paint. Try doing a normal car, heaps of crap all over the paint from the wheels.

I use a sanding/kneading movement. More of a knead on stubborn spots.

Grab a chair and park in the shade, get your favorite drink and take your time. Pack a small esky with drinks for less trips inside.

This is what Ive used or will use, is the price right ?
so its worth doing once a year with a thorough detail
Plus how do you remove car polish from bits like the snorkle and door handles
Ive have the car wash nozzle right up against the marks and they just stay there
plus need to find a product that actually works on the black plastic bits, there was a product on TV a while ago
but Ive forgotten its name, ,,,,restore???????????

I'm a big believer you get what you pay for, I want a good paint job on my car, I buy good products. Fwiw a 3m brand clay bar is only $35.

The polish is easy, don't get it on there in the first place haha sorry couldn't resist. But you can get stuff called 'back to black' or 'trim restore' that works wonders. Is great stuff to keep all of your flares looking tip top and stops them going brittle.

The panels are 160w bit deals off ebay. To mount i simple bought 2 x 3m lengths of 30x30 3mm alloy angle from bunnings cut to length and then bolted to rhino bars. The alloy was about $30 per length. So all up it probably cost me $70-80 to mount.

They sit a few mm below the top of the bar. So i could still put stuff on top if i desired.

Yeah i did think of using drawer rollers for it. But as I'm simply storing it there and will pull down when at camp for any length of time i couldn't be bothered trying to work it out 😆 Loosen 2 turn knobs and mine slides right out and can be set-up on the ground. (Padlocked for security too)

It still takes me about a month or so to get used to the extreme cold once it sets in. We've had a heat wave come through this past week. It was only -5C for most of the week. Getting ready to pull out for a trip up north on the ice road where the forecasted high temps are -25C. You just learn how to layer your clothing and your vehicle for optimum efficiency in that kind of weather.

At those temps, the air is usually very dry with little humidity left to precipitate. The air is very dense and thick and the stars at night are sharp - I can see so much better in the cold - maybe less refraction in the cold that is void of any moisture. High wind can blow stuff around already on the ground though.

Here in Kazakhstan the temps are below -40 always for many weeks; it never hit -50 yet for me here, but -48 arrived once; but it is really too cold for snow when it is like that.

Back in Canada where I am from the temps can get below -30, but not often; -5 to -15 is pretty common and it is here where there is a tonne of moisture in the air from the lake; when the air moves up and inland then it will dump like mad. Last year it looked like this:http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2014/02/05/toronto-weather-snow-photos_n_4732139.html

http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2015/12/36.jpg.

If below -22/-25 it will usually be clear sky, with no clouds and no snow. In fact, when camping out in the winter, we head out of the bush to the field and look up at the sky - if we see the clouds clearing then we chop more firewood - the temperature always falls when the clouds clear!

In Canada, where I am from, we will get more snow in one day than the Kazakh town where I am living now will get all winter (big picture for your viewing pleasure):

http://modustollens.org/photos/galleries/Canada/inglis-pano1-feb2009-rough.jpg

I put a new power steering belt on my machine; no one had size 775; I tried a 800: too big; I tried a 750, too small. I spent hours and hours going all over the town and one guy had one 775 in the bottom of a box in the back room. But only one.

So, I had to install and remove belts too many times. It is a PITA to replace given that, depending on the thickness of the belt, it is very hard to get it to squeeze under the belt mounts for the alternator. The 775 was too thick to be squeezed under so I had to loosen the bolts holding the fan clutch on to free up the belt wheels enough to 'convince' the belt to pass through.

Yeah 3 way switch mate. on | Off | on

The switch basically dictates, what triggers the relay. One side it has the 12+ve coming off the reverse light at the back, and the other side of the switch comes right off the 6 way fused block, which is a constant positive. The light feed source is also from the aux. battery.
All of this is at the back of my car, so easy access to the reverse positive.

Definitely makes it easier to reverse at night.

Yeh I've got a similar set up too, my switch is up the front and I didn't run a trigger switching wire from the rear reverse light as I figured it would be easy enough to pick one from the front... Easy said than done though!

I might just have to start stripping back a few of the "yellow wires" from the front passenger kick panel and see which one triggers when reverse is selected

Yeh that was certainly my intention!! But I couldn't decipher a wiring diagram that matched.

After searching on the forum and Google, the best I could find was "yellow wire" in the passenger kick panel - unfortunately I couldn't see a plain yellow wire; a few yellow wires with various coloured stripes though -- so that'll be where I'll have start -- unless there are any better suggestions...

If you have a multimeter with the 'continuity' function it would make it easier to find which one of those yellow ones it is. It would also save you from having to strip each of the wires like you mentioned.

I just used a two way off on switch. So when in reverse the light comes on, when the switch is in the off position. When switched to on, it comes on and also the rev lights.. no biggie.
