hi there
my wife and I have decided we like the Nissan Patrols and we would appreciate a little advice here before we lay down some money for a second hand Patrol, if we can find one that is relatively fault free. from past information we have discovered that there is a problem with the ZD30 engine, but I am not sure which year model had this problem and if it was rectified for future models ?. I am assuming that the problem was sorted out due to the amount of patrols we see on the road.

again we appreciate any advice

hey Tony
thanks for the link, I have seen a few really good patrols on the market, i have been looking at 2006 - 2010 diesel models so far, from what I have read that is a good year bracket to look for unless a 4.2 TD becomes available ha ha. I cannot physically look until next month when I return to Aus, so the i-net is my shopping trolley (so to speak). I will keep looking at the age vehicles i have mentioned unless advised otherwise.

thanks mate

don't be afraid to go older if you find a good one - just picked up an 88 model Ford Maverick (read GQ Patrol) with the mechanics in immaculate condition and 'only' 350k on the clock. Still hums like a sewing machine and very few clunks, squeaks or rattles.

g'day Steve and welcome aboard mate..... hope you find what you're looking for soon mate.

I would suggest trying to find something with as much up to date service history and receipts as possible. I have a 94 GQ 4.2 petrol and previous owners have kept everything up to date and so far I've done the same.

Hiya Steve,

I have an '07 CRD and love it to bits... lotsa good deals around at the moment on the Patrols.

At the risk of offending some members, you said MY06 to 10. If that is the case I would factor out the 06 and early 07 Di's and look at the CRD's. What I mean is that if you are looking at vehicles that young you may as well go for the current engine.
