Well since I've introduced myself, I should probably introduce the 'Trol
It's an '01 3ltr wagon with the following mods:
Dawes Valve & EGR block
2 3/4" Beaudesert Exhaust
3" OME coils with 15mm Tough Dog coil spacers in the rear
RidePro ROX shocks
285, 75, 16 Mickey Thompson MTZ's on alloys
ARB winch bar
12000lb Tigerz II winch
GME TX4000 UHF
Lightforce 240 Blitz with HID conversion
Headlights converted to HID
Home built roller draws
Home made Hi-Lift jack holder
Home made dual battery setup
Home made cargo barrier
Home made work light stand
Home made steel rear bar with twin wheel carriers
Home made Sliders/Side steps that double as airtanks
50 ltr Waeco fridge
Back door trims made from Aluminuim Checker Plate with fold down table
& heaps of other things that I can't remember at the moment.

I made all the bits because I couldn't justify paying the prices aftermaket mobs were asking.......and I enjoy making this sort of thing. Will post up other bits and pieces I've made.
Have got all the parts to build up a TD42T to go into the 'Trol. Along the way, have had to replace 2 injector pumps & a turbo on the Grenade :furious:

How thick is the plate you made the rear bar out of?

The main part of the bar is made from 100x50x3mm box section & 50x50x3mm angle iron. The side wings are made from 3mm plate, 50x10mm flat bar, & 40x40x3mm angle iron.

Yeh mate, there are brackets underneath the bolt to the inner guard using factory bolt holes.

The TD42T I'm going to put in went to the engine shop to get put together yesterday. Was going to build it myself (only had all the bits sitting around for 12mths :1087:) but just don't have time at the moment.

Thanks mate, yep, your right, well maybe 1 thing.....that new engine mounted in the engine bay and running, lmao.
Apparently it's an old ATX kit, hard to get parts for the turbo now, so there maybe a whole new kit on the cards????

Nice truck and very nice clean work. Looking through the pics it shows how well this truck is set up for you and your style of driving and trips. You would have thought the landy could have driven out of that hole. Oh well if only he had been driving a Nissan eh!

Looks good. Notice the cable ties on the high lift jack. If you get some 6 inch storm water PVC pipe. Cut a piece about 6 inches long. Paint whatever colour you like. Squeeze it as you slip it over the handle and stem. Easy to put on/off.

Wholy Hell that's a bar... Don't run up your ass.. looks tough as

Same idea I had though with moving the hitch up inline with the chassis to increase the decent angle.
How does the fuel tank look? Will it need more protection without the tow bar there?

And if you don't mind me asking were did you source them locks to?

The fuel tanks on Nav's are in front of the rear diff, so no drama's there.
The over center latches (the ones that lock the carries closed) I got from Ovesco, the locks (the one's that hold the carriers open), I made myself.

Started making my new roof rack for the 'Trol this afternoon.........................

...............it's made from 25x25x1.6 mm RHS stood on it's edge for the main frame, & the cross braces are 20x20x1.6 mm RHS. I used 50x6 mm flat bar for the uprights.

The brackets for the shovel holder (which I haven't made yet) will bolt onto the side uprights. The perforated plate can be used to mount a lightbar or HID lights, sand flag, antennas. I used the perforated plate as it is light, strong & something different :bigthumbup:

I already have a couple of rhino bars, and have been contemplating selling a kidney for a rhino platform but you may have given me some motivation (when I get time) to attempt to make one myself. I don't want a full heavy arb style steel one but making my own slimmer steel one on top of the rhino bars might work.

Yesterday resulted in me getting 1 set of slider/side steps fully welded, & the other set about 80% welded. Once the 2nd set is welded, needto cut the ally checker plate "steps" , clean them up, & paint them.

Deadly could you take some pic's of how the rocksliders are mounted on the chassis rail. I understand how the u-brackets bolt up but I'm confused on the end with the straight flat bar
I have a 2003 troll and cant find where that flat bar end mounts on the car.

Yeh I had a similar idea but instead of air putting some sort of bladder in them to hold water, was hoping to get them to hold around 10/15L per side. Will have to see though. The rear bar also looks awesome, good quality. Can't wait to see it fitted.

Well, I've had enough of the small door on the rear nor having any latching mechanism to hold it open, so decided to make my own..............

Thanks mate :cheers: That's an interesting idea, using them as water tanks !! Would be interested to see how you would get the bladders in :confused: I think you can get a paint type product that you can put inside, swirl it around, so the it seals & lines them to stop rust :confused:

Well that was one of the probs I was thinking of how to overcome as you can't put the bladder in and then weld it up for obvious reasons so I was thinking of some sort of flap on top that is hinged to access the bladder, but the paint thing wouldn't be a bad idea either. The only other prob would be algae building up if you don't dry it out properly.
