Hi all,

Just wanted to quickly introduce my new truck, its a 1998 Nissan Patrol 4.5 Petrol with 200K on the clock. Pretty much standard when I got it a couple of weeks ago. I plan to make this truck a very capable tourer and there is loads of space to do just that!

Initially I was planning on a 4.2 diesel however they were just too expensive and after driving one I was not that impressed. This one we found at a VW dealer (dont laugh) and the test drive convinced me it was time to return to Petrol. It was also 15k less expensive so lots of cash to spend on it.

Since then I have:

- Added a 2.5" exhaust
- Added a High flow air filter
- Changed the spark plugs to Iridium ones + new leads
- Set the valve clearances
- New D694 tyres
- New shocks
- Moved my radio in (finally handfree again)

Following plans under way:

- Add in LPG comversion
- 2" lift and replace clapped out springs
- Window tint (boy does it get hot)
- Add my UHF back in
- Add my dune flag back on
- Rear drawers
- 2nd battery + loads of extra sockets
- Modifications to roof rack (ladder, table holder, water tank

@Roofy, thanks for the reply, yeah I know the range is not that good (even on petrol), just did a trip to NSW and back and cost me an arm and a leg in fuel. Good thing it was all tax deductible as it was to work on my investment property:) But boy was it comfortable! and with or without roofrack, with empty or loaded trailer, she goes.... On average I did about 20k's to the hundred @100kmph. Did some amaizng roads arround Eyre penninsula and we did Balladonia Road, from Nullarbor down south to Esperance, bastard of a road but no worries fully loaded, weight on the roorack and double axle trailer:) We even got stuck on the beach, in a dip, and a corner, in pretty loose sand, but reversing out was not a problem...

thats pretty good with the trailer on as well once you go on gas you might drop back to 18l/100 with out the trailer
and about 20l/100 with it
was wondering what the ramps on the roof rack where for

Just some stuff I was carrying back from NSW. I moved here in a hurry to Perth and had loads of stuff still back in NSW, so I drove back and collected it, the ramps didnt fit on the trailer anymore, which was more weight than volume, it had 1 complete motorbike, several boxes with parts and motors, and about 10 boxes full of books. The ramps just looked good and seamlined on there lol....
