Nice work mate, welcome to the forum.

My 92 Mav had the same paint trouble. Bugger the sander mate, if your going bare metal get some paint stripper it will save you hours. Check out my build in my sig line for some before and after shots. The paint was a big job.

Good luck with your project, you will have no trouble at all with a 2" lift getting your RWC so if your suspension is shot just fit it, the roadie guy will be fine with 2"

About the cluster, you could check if the ground is going bad or disconnecting, I´m relatively new in the Nissan game but have been fixing up Fords and stuff for a while. When some gauges start to flip out I usually start looking at the ground, If it is only one i go for the connection on the other end.

Great looking car and I second the paint stripper thing, I have read other threads that describe the same problem and paint stripper is the way to go. Just remember to ventilate well and use a mask that can take the fumes, those strippers can cause cancer and no one wants that.

Pulled the cluster out tonight after work and stripped it cleaned all connections i even figgured out how to wind it back ( but i didnt do it i really didnt) looks like the drive that drives the odmeter is a small electric motor that must work off a pulse from somewhere i can power it up (have a vairable voltage dc power supply) but i cant replicate the pulse to get it to turn so im suspecting the little drive motor is dead.Ive found a new one from a wrecker in bawswater for $145.00 which will get me through the road worthy.I might then look at making a custom led dash and replace the gauages with led readouts mmmm just a thought if i can figgure out how many pulses and what voltage the speedo works at but first things first i need the roadworthy...............

We don't have roadworthys here in SA for rego and the like, but what difference does it make if the odo doesn't work for a roadworthy! Hardly dangerous I wouldna thought

I would prolly say it would be along the lines of resale saftey recals and such and since there is a big whohar at the moment on a current afffairs about winding odometers back id'e reakon it would be along those lines
