just drained my tranny oil and there was chunks of metal on the drain plug magnet. It can be hard to get into reverse sometimes but i am guessing this a sign that my transmission might be on the way out, even though it seems fine in all the forward gears. I supose all i can do is change the oil then again next service and keep monitoring it. Anyone else had this happen, what was shagged?

If the metal on the magnet is like fur then you are ok as this is just normal but if it is actual pieces then you may have a problem. As for the hard reverse it is supposed to have synchro on reverse gear but if it`s had a hard life this may not be working as well as it should. If The reverse synchro has to work very hard if it`s thrown into reverse while you are still moving forward.

Are you able to post a pic of the metal chunks?

yeah they do seem to be a bit bigger than the normal wear shavings. Id start saving up for a rebuild or search for a replacement, but im no expert....there may be others on here with a better analysis. Good luck with it mate, hope its not too bad.
