A mate rang me this morning to tell me what happened to him earlier.

He drives a log truck for a living,at about 2.30 this morning he was driving up to get his first load for the day,he's carting from the back of tanjil bren.

He was driving up costons rd in the middle of nowhere when in light of his 400 driving lights he see's what he thought was a person standing on the side of the road.

Na can't be he thought im in the middle of nowhere,as he got closer yep there is a bloke standing there WTF????.

So he stops and ask's "mate are you ok?", the bloke replies nah im stuck in the camp ground down the road can you pull me out?

The mate think's hmmm something's not right here this bloke looks abit suss, but the mate said yep no worries can i get my truck in there.

Yep you'll fit,so in he goes and sure enough here's a GQ stuck on a log.

The bloke goes on to say that him and some mate's are camping further down the road and he came out to make a phone call but got stuck on the log, that was 6 hrs ago i thought my mate's would have come looking for me.

The mate said the whole time he was putting the chain on(no recovery gear) he was looking over his shoulder.

He pulled him of the log no drama's,while he was putting his chains back on the chock tray the bloke walks over an say's "here you go mate will 100 bucks cover that?".
It's right mate don't stress all good, the bloke then thanks him and drives off, when the mate climbed back into his truck here's the bloke's 100 bucks sitting on the seat.

The mate was happy with that, but is still wondering what he was doing up there at 2.30 on a thursday morning,he did'nt really buy the whole camping with mate's and came to make a call thing.

That is a bit suss to go out for a phone call at 2:30 in the morning....100 bucks is quite a generous offer too.

Hush money maybe...lol

One thing answers all these questions..................it was a ghost. Definately.

Agree with plassy, Defiantly a ghost

1. GQ don't get stuck on "logs" so unless it was a GU it never happen

2. All GQ and GU owners never have a 100 bucks on them......its always spend fixing and repairing there 4b

*LMAO*

Don't laugh, I drove into a drivein bottle shop once (STONE SOBER) and saw a cripple bloke and his dog riding the same old pushbike he had ridden past my house from the time I was a kid.
But he had been killed 20 years earlier, same bloke no doubt about it!

At that time and in those circumstances I may possibly have stopped, but I certainly would not be going down the side track etc.

If I stopped it would be where the bloke on the side of the road had to move away from any accomplices and in sufficient light to check as best as possible for weapons.

Call me chicken. Better a live chicken than fertili2er in a forest.

I'd be starting to watch crime stoppers or any of those Oz mystery/crime shows if I was that bloke.

Her may just give himself the scare of he's life...... Its happened before.

all sounds very dodgy to me, not sure if I would have done the same to be honest, call me a chicken but I'd be thinking of me family.

Spooky. The first thing that comes to mind is wolf creek... That time of morning is a bit sus, but if he left his mates 6 hours ago it would of been a reasonable hour to make a phone call, still a bit sus. Out checkin his crop??? So what did you say your mate was hauling logs in Todd, Bet it was a GU...lol

Now that is very weird indeed and gave me some goosebumps just reading it Chester! A few obvious questions come to my mind:
What was he doing trying to drive over a log if he's just on his way to make a call?
If he had been there 6 hours then he must have left his mates at camp around 8pm. Wouldn't you go looking for a mate if he wasn't back by 2am??
Why was this dude just standing on the road and not walking back to his camp?
How did your mate not see him climb up and put the money on his seat?

One thing answers all these questions..................it was a ghost. Definately.I can answer a couple of them Plassy as i asked them to.Yes i would have gone looking for a mate as well.
The mate said where the guy said he was camping would have taken about 2 hrs to walk to would have saved him self $100,If there was mate's camping.
The door was open and the mate had the keys in his pocket it was running on the turbo timer.
You can reach the seat to place something on it from the ground.
The mate would'nt have made the story up he's not that kind of bloke.

Just bolt on past mate, you will wake up in the morning, he will sort something.
It's very noble and friendly to help some one, but you just never know, the guy could be up to anything.
It seems at this time, things turned out ok.
I have done millions of ks all over the top end over the years and seen what can happen, never trust anyone, even in daylight.
I picked up 2 blokes one nite in my ute, halfway between Darwin and katherine 3am, dropped em at katherine and they lifted my tool box and spare.
They were White!! If there is blood running out, I'll stop, other than that, keepa goin.
Cheers, the ferret.
