This is a much sought after educational video that is available on youtube now.

It can help with ideas on resounding new years resolutions for those who do care but can't find strong enough motivation or those who don't care but would like to know why we should care.

I find this guy so impressive this is the first Youtube channel I have ever subscribed to. When Chuck Norris falls off his perch (which we all know is incomprehensible) this bloke will take his mantle.

This is really is impressive. The guy can make fire by spinning a stick in his hands which most of us can't do, but now has made a cord drill, then a pump drill which makes it so much easier. Still takes skill to make the drill though. Check it out.

OK I shut up now.

Yeah, but I'm not a big fan of getting painful blisters on my hands :).

Bloody dangerous thing to instruct people to build. There is no earth connection on these type of appliances because they are double insulated.

This means there is no metal showing and a very limited chance of receiving an electrical shock.

This bloke has removed the nylon spacer from the shaft and replaced it with a metal chuck.

The only protection is now the thin coating of varnish on the armature wires, and hopefully, the earth leakage circuit breaker if one is installed in the house wiring.

This bloke has removed the nylon spacer from the shaft and replaced it with a metal chuck.

The only protection is now the thin coating of varnish on the armature wires, and hopefully, the earth leakage circuit breaker if one is installed in the house wiring.

How about the standard mains powered soldering iron?
Or a clothing iron?
None of them come with an earth connection, usually.
I knew a guy who got electrocuted while ironing his shirts(an army soldier on holidays) at home.
Because of the high discipline and training soldiers receive in the army, they usually like ironing most of
their clothes. The tragic part in his case was he decided to iron his clothes with an electric iron that usually does not come
with an earth. Not having a proper earth installed in the house might have contributed.
He was ironing while it was lightening and a storm going on.
Unlucky enough to get hit by a one lightening shock and all we saw was a blue spark travelling
through his hand and he never breathed again.
Though I'm not sure having an earth connection on the iron alone was enough to avert that tragedy.
I think, having a proper earth installed from the highest point of the house to deep into the ground is the way to go to avoid lightening electric shocks frying us while using electric appliances.

I also have reasons to believe that using a telephone can also cause the same accident, if we are unlucky enough.

Ain't nuthin' gunna help if you get hit by lightening. The voltage will jump any insulation gap on any household appliance. There are standards applicable to mains voltage appliances which ensure there is enough insulation to prevent shocking the user. When buying any mains voltage equipment, check that it is aussie standards approved.

There are a lot of shonky mobs selling deadly gear.

Ideally, the lightening finds the least resistant path to travel to the ground. If there is a proper earth rod at the highest point of the house and properly earthed deep into the ground, the the lightening arc should choose that path instead of you.
If you're standing outdoors on the flat ground, then you're out of luck. Many lightening deaths in south/south east asia are from carrying umbrellas during lightening. Quite a few of them are kids going to the school on a rainy/stormy day. Metal tip at the top of the umbrella was the perfect attraction for the lightening arc to find it's path to earth. Nowadays, the tip is either not there or it is plastic, probably helps a little bit.

Haha not quite David Attenborough but I found it entertaining enough!

Yeah, honey badger is a real badass animal, yet they have some interesting symbiotic relationship with certain species of birds & bushmen in Kalahari. The bird locates beehives and honey badger attacks the hive and bring down some of it, then he leaves some for the bird on the ground. Honey badger stalks and follow Kalahari bushmen, 'cos they know if they stick around humans they have a higher probability of locating a meal. :)

Home made friction stir welding. If this guy had the shoulder on the tool bit dead square and the metal clamped better, the weld would be viable. Interesting concept. I wonder if a sliding bed vice clamp could be used in conjunction with a heavy duty drill press.

I've watched a few of his Vids. He does one on a WW2 British pistol called the Welrod.

Seen it on faceache but yes it just gets funnier if not a bit scary , it's well made for a commercial.

Far from a Physicist me Muddy mate but why do all these crash tests show hitting a super duper rock solid wall and not other possibilities?
Fortunately no one hurt but did scarily have a 1.5T tops GVM Commodore P plater accidentally play chicken with my old 3.4T GVM work DX ute some years back.
Took his sedan some 100+m backwards real quick through pure inertia.
Like I said thankfully no one was hurt but my airbag less old ute sure came out less crumpled and with minimal whiplash aboard the Patrol.

I don't think 4WD's of that design are made with crumple zones like sedans.

Statistically, I think you are right, that usually it is collision with a vehicle, which skews the results. The bloke explains why they use a solid wall near the end of the clip.

It would be more fun to see two utes smashing into each other though.

Have a look at this little ripper. Could run it on wood gas or plastic based diesel. You could use the exhaust heat to help cook the plastic.

Search for Isolated vocals and check out some of the songs. Bloody awesome to just hear the singing with no music behind it.
