I have been Googling around for days and cannot find an answer so hoping someone here might know...
I am looking into getting more fire ready this year and looking at a Crompton Greaves 40hp electric motor to run a pretty serious impeller but I am not sure if this engine is single or 3 phase?
Does anyone know the answer with the specs shown below???

Why are you going electric old mate?
Being a fire pump wouldn't it be better to go a 4 stroke?

I have my eye on a big diesel engine with a massive impeller and 2 1/2" output. It's an ex back up fire fighting unit from a large building complex.
I just noticed this one going real cheap and thought about getting a large diesel generator but I am more keen on the diesel engine one for obvious reasons.
If it was single phase it could have been handy thats all..

The HP's the first & biggest give away but if you re-read the tag you'll see it says 3PH on it as well.

Single phase will not generate that sort of HP, it need to be in the 40,000w range & as you know thats just not happening........lol

With a 3 phase generator you'd be alright.
And a 3 phase generator would mean cheap hoists and big welders are available!

As much as I would love to knowing the endless options of having 3 phase on the property the manager of finance would certainly tear me a new one with two major purchases...lol
I'll see how the diesel pump goes first. Bloody tempting though!!!!!!!
hmmmm!!!
