Fuel economy ST Patrol GU ll manual 3l turbo.

I am looking at an ST Patrol GU ll.. manual with 3L turbo. 197000k. Can anyone advise rough consumption figures?

I get around 13.5l/100km out of my GUIII ST ZD30 Manual, thats with 33" tyres, 3" exhaust, Dtronic Chip & full roof cage - thats a mixture of highway & city driving.

G'day Dalton. My 01 dx 3.0 gets around 12 - 13 liters per 100 kms.
Thats urban too highway and a bit of off roading.
That equals 1050 Kms per fuel stop. AWESOME

My 03 GUIII ST 3.0 gets 15 liters per 100ks which I must say ends up being bloody expensive...and thats not even driving it hard.

What should I expect on the highway cruising at about 100k kph? I've got a trip coming up in April/May that will include the Donohue/Plenty and also the GCR. I'll add the sub for this and wonder how far I might go on these two tanks before needing to fill up. Do you think that my current fuel consumption is poor? All advice gratefully accepted.

G'day holden4th. I just came back from a trip up to sydney, and i averaged 9.5 - 10 litres per 100kms. thats doing exactly 110kmph

me to, by the way what boost are you running when sitting on 110 for manuals. at 2850 rpm on the flat i'm sitting at about 12psi

im running at about 10 psi

running around normally , @100kph, 7.2psi, 345C
@110kph, 8.2psi, 355C
this gives me around 10.8l/100kms around sydney including stop start in peak hour traffic.
I did a trip up to the barrington tops over xmas and with the roof rack loaded and towing the trailer loaded with camping gear i wound the boost up a bit and averaged 12.7l/100kms for the trip.

if you want better fuel figures:
1) drive it a bit nicer
2) lower your boost (but the less boost the higher egt's go so you need to find a good balance)

Dalton, iv got a 02 3L and I average out about 11.3L per 100km's doing a mix of town/highway and a little beach. It's stock standard and am super happy with it. Take it easy

the dawes and needle valve mod. takes boost control away from the ecu and you can control how fast the turbo spools up and what the max boost pressure is reached.
Also commonly known as NADS, nissan anti destruction system. You also need boost and exhaust temp (egt) installed to be able to monitor the settings

My 2006 GU does around 13/100 in general town driving. Best ever unloaded on highway is 10--11/100. Tow camper trailer and push a bit, it is 15/100.
BTW if you plan sand and stuff, plan for 20 to be safe, but probably you will only use 15

Thats it. I treat mine with a lot of care though. Gotta Love It.

I have a standard 2009 GU 3.0 L, and get about 11L / 100km. It seems to be about the same around town and on the highway, I'm guessing because it is not very aerodynamic.

Welcome aboard, I have an 04DX 3ltr and am getting 10.7ltrs/100ks with a 2 bar roof rack, everything very standard at moment being an ex Telstra vehicle, but that will be changing shortly

Even though I know you an can take Nissan's claim of fuel consumption of being 11.8L/100klm with a grain of salt for my 3Lt Patrol GU Ute, so I was interested to see how it would go with it's first big trip up to my Father's in far North/West NSW which is 740klm one way, on the main 90Lt tank I got around 630klm before needing to switch across to Sub Tank, a little short of Nissan's 11.8l/100 or 762Klm which Nissan spec's indicates.

If my calculations are right, I'm getting around 15L/100klm with my 2013 3Lt Ute, reading through this thread the 15L/100 looks about correct from what I'm reading here.

Yeah, I reckon big stock on an empty belly they might come close to their advertised figures. My 2003 gu td42ti was getting high 13l/100 when I first got it.. Doesn't do that now...

Doesn't do that now...My 04 GU III td42ti was getting 14.82l/100 before getting it dyno tuned. The next three tanks I put through it were 14.1l/100, 13.31l/100 & 12.59l/100. Those last two I cracked the 600km mark for the 90l tank fill up getting 617kms and 644kms.
These are a mix of city driving and freeway trips for holidays and a mix of unloaded and loaded with family.

If planning a trip up that 15 to 18 as a safety factor

I don't have a heavy foot but I do travel at the limit. Standard 2015 GU 3L auto diesel wagon and only tow a box trailer occasionally.
My old 1956 FJ Holden used to get around 20MPG (14.1LHK), and the 6 cylinder VC Valiant was no better but did have a bigger donk. Both petrol of course when it was around 3s 6d ($0.35) a gallon. And beer was $4.10 a carton of long necks - stubbies were only emerging then. You could buy a beer and a packet of smokes with 10 bob ($1) and get change.

Good on mate, you're a bloody legend, love it. I can remember when petrol was 35c/litre, maybe even a bit lower, worked at a servo from 14 y.o.

Just updated my fuel app last night after this thread popped up. GU TD42 270,000km.

All time average from May 2018 of just over 17l/h. My last 3 tanks have been at about the 14.5l/h though. That's interesting because I've been doing a lot of towing lately.

Every day load is rear drawers, tools, roof rack and I run both main and sub tanks from full down to 1/4 in the main each fill.

My speedo/odo is bang on with actual road speed and kms travelled via gps. My average is coming down slightly since the new pump and turbo. Could be driving technique though, after the first couple of months playing with the new power I think I drive it nicer now than I did when it was a slug.

manufacturers fuel economy indications are best case scenario within an enclosed and controlled test environment, eg. aircon off, windows up, 80kph, no headwind, constant rpm over a given time

My 2007 3,0 DDTi automatic was driven in the last 3 months for 11000ks downunder. Standard tires 275/65/17 with 30psi air pressure, mostly highways and urban. Everthing is standard eccept a kings awning on the rhino racks, drawers in the back and car is lifted 2 inches. Fuel consumption is (driving very gentle, real 90 - 95kmH GPS, no kickdowns etc) MINIMUM 12,1l per 100km, average is 12,7l. greets :driving2:
