Hi to all.
We are a husband and wife team in our mid 50s, (still act like a couple of teenagers) Been into 4x4s for about the last 10 or 12 years. Have 4 adult sons, 2 of which also own 4x4s (all no longer live at home, yippeee.) and 3 grand kids.

We usually spend our holidays travelling to different parts of Australia, sometimes our camper trailer follows us and sometimes we just tent it.
Mid next year, we have made the decision to quit work, pack up, rent the house, say goodbye to the kids and hit the the road on an indefinite adventure.

Currently we do not own a Nissan but are considering moving to a Patrol for the next stage in our lives. Our current 4b has been a great vehicle but now is the time for an upgrade.

Joining this forum will hopefully give us some insight on pros & cons etc from you, the people that own them. (over the next few days, will hopefully submit a thread asking about models etc)

Cheers Daryl & Syl

Welcome Daryl and Syl, you've come to the right place for unbiassed advice on which Patrol is best :-) You've just got to find it amongst all the posts bursting with pride of ownership.

Ours is a GQ, and of course we think it is better than G60s, MQs, MKs, and those woosie GUs. Mind you, if someone offered to swap a nice GU, I'd be tempted - some of the running gear is stronger and they seem to be a lot more quiet - as they should be given our ride dates back to '89 :-)

Look through here and you'll find which GUs had engine problems, and during what period, and which gearboxes had 5th gear problems, and from what period etc. Hours and Hours of fun :-) And there are some real gurus on here as well, for which we are very grateful!
