Hi mate - a bunch of us are doing this in August this year. Take a look at RLIs Cape York Adventure (http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/showthread.php?16669-RLI-s-Cape-York-travelling-Wilburys-tour-August-2013!).

Hey mate. MSA 4x4. If you do a Google search for MSA 4wd bras you'll find them.

Does anybody know how long it would take to get from the LAKELAND turnoff to the tip straight up the main road? A mate reckons he did it in 4 to 5 hours.
No side tracks taken.

Hey mate - Lakeland to the tip is just shy of 750kms? Doing it in 5 hours would mean he was travelling at 150kms per hour? Or are you talking from a different spot?

Read Ron and Viv Moons book on the tip, some regard it as the bible, travel as light as possible. There are a few going late August early sept.

Been talking to mates and they all say I should lift my Ute more before I go.

So to get some actual advice I'm gonna ask u guys I have 285/75/16 tires with 2 inch lift all round is this enough for most stuff up cape

Mate - that's what I'm doing it in. I've seen Patrols with standard suspension and stock tyres and rims do it. Heck - if you don't do the Tele or Creb you could do it in a X-trail (even a Toyota might make it! :) )

I'm doing it in a 2" lift, 285/75R16s and towing a 1400 kilo campertrailer. You should be right.

I did it last year with those specs. Easy as with those mods.

Did it in 1983 . guy in front of us did it in an xy ford station wagon and his mate in a 2wd F100. we were in a 2 door range rover. Best trip ever
long range tanks would be handy as fuel can be pricey up the tip, new tyres, new shocks and spare shocks, avoid roof racks. saw guy hack saw the roof off his brand new 4x4 because of roof rack.
