If your gunna turbo the td42 id wait if not go for the v8 grunt just have to make sure your elecs are water proof to avoid disappointment in deeper water crossings:-)

I don't mean to throw a spanner in the works and I still say TD42 is the best, but here is another idea. BA/BF Falcon 180kw 6 cylinder engine. This would have to be one of cheapest conversions going and you can buy these low Km engines for under $1000. Just throwing the idea out there.

Be very careful what you say here Toddy cos one of those 185kw Ford 6's would kick the crap out of a Holden 5ltr V8 both being stock.

I'm a Holden fan from way, way back but those BA/BF's are nothing to be sneezed at & they go like a dog shot in the a@#%.

Thanks guys.
I have brought the statesman could'nt let it go cost me $800 and have sold the Auto already.
It's gunna be a long term project, gunna get it rebuilt while it's out.
One of my brother in laws is a very good mechanic who as rebuilt many performance V8's mine will just be mild though.
My other brother in law has his own shop doing custom car rebuilds and genral repairs. If he can fit a 6L ,and vt ss interior into a 1966 HR im sure he can fit a 5L into a GQ.
Ill keep you guys in the loop with build up reports in the members ride section.

Those Ford motors are very relieable not like early ones that had head gasket problems (ie EA to EL etc )
