View Full Version : missing hose in engine bay, aircon recirculation? 92 Patrol GQ

Hey there,

I have one missing part in the Patrol I bought. The previous owner couldn't exactly tell me what it was for (he got the car like that himself) and just put duct tape over it (the cheapest tool ever!)...because there was water getting on the inside of the car.

The two holes are on the co-drivers side and he assumed it might have something to do with the internal recirculation (aircon?) that is used when there's dust on the outside and you don't want to have it inside...i think there should be a hose connecting those two holes.

The air conditioner gets fresh/outside air from the grill at the base of the windscreen.

What is under the duct tape?

And you need to replace the hose between the air filter and the throttle body, the hose with tape wrapped around it. The last thing you want is unfiltered and unmetered air getting into the engine.

I would have 2 look at the manual as I don't know much about the aircon system, but looking at mine, it is meant 2 be an open plug that lets water condensation out.

Looks like you nailed it with the first photo Todd, it's the air conditioner drain. Look at the black trim clip beside the drain, it's in the same position in Greg's photo.

GREAT, THANK YOU TODD! That was exactly what I'm looking for! So I'll just request a gum-plug-whatever at my garage? Or does it actually have anything to do with the aircon drain? I think the guy said something like that...could I just go to Nissan and ask if I could get those for a pack of smokes? (;

might need to be 'special' smokes - then again, ordinary ones cost quite a bit these days I understand!

My local Nissan spare parts team are pretty switched on, but they insist on having the VIN - vehicle identification number. If I went in there armed with the VIN and the description they would sort it. They could always walk out to the car and have a look.

I can't type the 26th letter of the alphabet on this 'puter, and use 2 instead. Noting that, Ni22bits has been very helpful tracking down parts from my imprecise descriptions.

Finally, if your aircon is working, worth getting fixed, or your front floor will rust out. If not working, stick with the duct tape over the hole!

I'll get back to you with the VIN - the aircon is still freezing so I really want to get this fixed!

I can't help with the VIN, but the spares people will want it
