Can someone please tell me what size bolts hold the fan clutch to the water pump on a 2.8 turbo diesel 96 patrol, I have to fly to Mackay and need to take the basic tools with me.

Cheers

G'day semb

Welcome to the forum and great to have you onboard. Any chance of a quick intro and tell us a bit about yourself? We love pics of trucks, too.

Take care out there.

dunno Semb, I have a GQ. ON the Q, from memory despite the small si2e they can be tight so take a long ring spanner - from memory on the Q they were 8 or 10 mm but it was a long time ago and a different vehicle.

Someone will be along to help with the info you need I guess. Look forward to seeing your introduction post.

Welcome to the forum Semb.

I am pretty sure they are 8mm on the TD4.2. Last week I had to extract the old studs from my blown water pump for the new one and for that job you gotta have two nuts per stud.

Anyways, i would suggest having a few fine thread 8, 10 and 12 mm nuts and bolts on hand. They are pretty common on our trucks. You should be able to buy a variety box of them at your local auto supply store. Just don't buy the cheapo ones.
