Hi Everyone.My first post .
I have a 2000 Pathfinder on gas and am changing to a late model Nissan Patrol either a 3.0L Diesel or a 4.8L EI Petrol.
Option with the Petrol ,is a gas conversion, so need approx install cost ,running costs and engine reliability V/s Diesel.
Usage will be general city running with about 20% country trips with camper trailer.
Hope someone can help.

Jump in and have a chat, look up things your interested in etc.......as to diesel or pet/gas?? I went for the pet/gas.

Hey Turk, go say hello in the intro section, people like to meet you before they start to give you the benifeit of their experience. You will get a much better response that way. cheers

Hi Stumpjumper, thank's for advice, not sure where the intro section is but I will find it.
We, that is wife and me joined the Four Wheel Drive Club yesterday at the Perth Camping Show and it was recomended that I visit this site.
Iv'e driven a 4x4 on the farm for years but could always pull the ute out of a bog with a tractor when I was stuck or walk home, but that may not be a option where we want to go.

When youve decided diesel or petrol see what extras are on the vehicles for sale. After you see what can be improved on a stock factory unit and this forum will show you what a lot of others are doing, then try to buy a patrol thats already got the 2in lift, good tyres, racks, winch and the nodding dog with light up eyes etc etc......and thats gonna save you the time and effort putting it on yourself.

ha ha ha the nodding dog, I am showing my age Turk.
Many years ago there was a popular item sitting on the back windowledge of cars , it was a small plastic dog that had a wobbly head that moved up and down as the car moved, now this "nodding dog"often had its light up eyes conected to the brake lights.
The craze came and went however who could forget them???

Way before my time, I don't recall seeing one of those probably fetch good money on Ebay, I do regret giving my claxton horn away, you don't hear them nowdays, I had it hooked up when I was a teenager, to my Volkswagen.
Still looking for a wagon, they look a bit cheaper in the East than Perth , might have to go for a trip.
