G'day all I found this forum whilst trying to figure out what was wrong with my gq wagon.
Its a 96 2.8 td now with new water pump, thermostat, radiator cap, belts, timing belt and head gasket. (any guesses what went wrong? ;p )

It's just come up to 190 k on the odometer so it should last a while.

Interestingly I recently put a set of 80 series cruiser split rims on it (they were very cheap with near new tyres) and they definitely fit.
Yep 80 series rims do fit gq patrols with no modifications. And this way if I get stuck I can blame the cruiser rims!

Hi and welcome to Nissans Nut House, Jimmy. Are you sure they weren't split patrol rims that had been fitted to Tojo? As the tojo rims usually don't fit over the front hubs.

I haven't looked at this forum for a while and good to see that I've already offended people and started getting abused! ;p

I was told by the guy who sold be the wheels that they were 80 series rims, and I've definitely seen a prado with the same rims. Chrome steelies kinda 5 spoke ish... I'll see if I can figure out how to put up a photo.
I paid $300 for 11 wheels 8 with good tyres, and the rest only really good as last resort spares.

Like I said though, by having toyota rims I have an excuse if I ever get properly stuck! Blame the toyota parts.

G'day JJ

Welcome to the forum and fantastic to have you onboard.

Anybody who bags split rims will have to deal with me at Loveday, Easter 2012, in South OZ. I'll accept a rain check from others. lol
