Hi All,
I'm spraying the GQ this weekend, just the spots that I repaired the rust the other week.
I just want to check if this is the best approach for masking, blending and spraying.
I haven't done this for about 10 years...LMAO
The picture below is an old photo of Bluey.
The red parts are what has been repaired and currently has etch primer.
The yellow parts are what I intend to mask off. Unfortunately I had to take all of the masking off to pick up that trailer on the weekend as I don't have another car with a tow ball. So I have to re mask.
So the yellow parts is where I want to mask.
REAR QUARTER: Mask off bottom along vinyl strip edge, around tail lights and at the top along the indentation of the body and then fan the spray to blend in towards the door??????
TOP GUTTER AND ROOF: Mask along top of window and on right hand side. Spray and blend / fan spray over roof??? There will be hard lines from end of window (barn door side)
SPRAY TECHNIQUE: I have 2 cans, the colour and the gloss.
I assume 3 or 4 light coats of colour until I'm happy with the coat (waiting 30 mins between coats)????
On the gloss coat, do a very light coat across everything and then straight away do a heavier coat so it binds in to the surface better. I assume do another coat or two after that with 30 minute intervals???
What does everyone think of this technique???
Thanks for any advice!
