Diesel injection pump

A stupid question again,

does the diesel gets suck out of the tank by the injection pump on the engine itself or is there another small pump inside the tank that pumps it to the engine on a patrol´s GQ and MQ.

The injection pump itself incorporates a lift pump, which draws fuel up from the tank. Many of us also fit an electric lift pump to help the IP and put positive pressure into the fuel line. This helps to stop the chance of air entering the fuel system.
