Hello everyone, I would just like to hear the advantages and disadvantages of cutting a couple inches or less from my oil pan on my SD33 engine so I can clear the diff other than it would use bit less in oil.

I don'y know how much your talking here or from where in the sump either but if its from the lower pan section that stores the oil I'd be taking as little as possible to minimize the volume loss as diesels like oil & plenty of it.
As Tim said, be sure your pickup is still located correctly as incorrect spacing could see a number of things go wrong.
A good way to put the volume back is to fit a decent size engine oil cooler. This would be a positive move in more ways then one.
