Iv'e been seeing these pop up on Ebay, It's a good idea but I thought anything that exceeds the width of your car would be illegal?

Wouldn't that be like a small car carrying a bicycle?....... Not sure to be honest but would have thought was ok

Im not sure to tell you the truth but I'd be thinking as long as it had lights to compensate for the ones you were blocking. Its doesn't exceed the maximum weight of your tow bar & your number plate was still visible can't see why they would knock it.

I have made something along the same lines for my dad to mount his Postie bike onto the back of his 80 series. worked a treat. It is now in the back yard at my place and if anyone wants to make an offer i"d be happy to sell it.

Not quite as sexy as the one on ebay but i aint looking for $500 for it like he is either ;)

Over here you're only allowed to have 150mm hanging out from either side (from the car - not the end of the mirrors) and 1.2m overhang front and rear (don't forget the red flag, too).

Not sure about the rules in your state. Best you check.

I built my motorbike carrier within the same specs as a push bike carrier, have used it a few times and never got pulled up. Another project never finished :)

The regs for the pushbike carrier for NSW I got from the RTA, and I'm sure like some other 4b reg I will not mention *L* I would say various by state

the only thing that may make that carrier illeagle would be the local dimention laws ie over hang past rear axle and your width how much over hang your allowed past the side of you vehicle.... i would check with vic roads and they should be able to give you all the tech info on it

good luck!!
