My name is Les - user name granite53.
Recently retired (luckily at 58) and have just got hold of a 2007 DX Patrol 3.0l TD manual with 75,000ks on it - it seems very tight and very clean. A couple of minor dents and scrapes but it's not new so what do you expect. Going to use it as a tow vehicle for our caravan when SWMBO (Chris) and I head off around OZ next year.

Not new to 4x4 as I've had a Toyota 4Runner for about 3 years as a hunting vehicle - V6 and very thirsty but reliable. Many years ago I used to do a lot of survey field work around Wollongong and over the mountain - probably drove one of the first Patrols into OZ in the very early 70's. I remember the Patrol as being a bit agricultural inside (it even had barn doors in those days also) and with a very strong but very thirsty straight 6 engine - I remember it gave the SWB Landrovers a run for their money in the bush but flogged the pants of the poor little 4 cylinder Perkins engined LR on the black stuff.

Had a look around the forum since joining and heaps of great ideas and very friendly souls out there.

Looking forward to meeting some Patrol owners when we head off next year.

By the way the other love of my life is MG's - got two of these - 1953 TD and 1958 ZB - will get a B one day.
