I'd say by your description its an MK Patrol. Although the 89 was the start of the GQ, you have all the markings of an MK.

Welcome aboard.

Hi robus1, Welcome to the forum.

I'm with Paul I think its an MK, its just that the year seems wrong.

Is it a ute? maybe the GQ ute was released later then the wagons??????

I'm sure Tim will know.

Enjoy the forum.

Cheers Rodney

Hi and welcome to Nissan Nut House Rob, I think someone has led you up the garden path with the year of your Patrol. 1987 Was the last of the MK Patrols, they had square (actually rectangle) headlights, 5spd gearboxes, and mostly SD33T motors which are the factory turbo engines. They have leaf springs all round.

What makes you think your springs are sagged? They may be the softer set, as you can get heavier duty sets in the last half of the MK series.

 Hi Robus and welcome to the forum.

I agree, your Patrol has got to be an MK. I believe the Nissan model code for the MK is 161.

cheers for all youre help. Def registered dec 89. Its not a turbo. The leaf springs are allmost straite with a load of around 75kg over the one side, allso it bangs if i go over a pot hole, seems to be cooming from the back end. Have posted some pic see if that helps. Cheers again Rob

Yep..... MK there mate * its not an 89 model Patrol.

There is a plate under the bonnet somewhere that has the "date of manufacture" on it.

Ok Rob, by the looks of your spring i can see, it seems about right. The bump would lead me to believe either you shock absorbers are old and not working correctly and/or you leaf spring bushes are flogged out. They can look ok until you drop the spring packs out. Try to replace them with original rubber ones if you can get them. Not sure where you are?

By the way I like your taillight protectors, did you have them made? And whats with your front bumper bar, it seems to be packed out with spacers?

Do you have 15" or 16" wheels? They look good by the way. And the guard clearance height looks about right to me for a standard. I am surprised about non turbo though.

Cheers for confirming MK. Yep has 15" wheels that are just having new boots fitted today. The rear guards came with it when i got it, not sure whether they are of the shelf or not. The front ends had a bit of a knock, flatterning a lamp post, not sure about spacers on the bumper, to dark to look now. The van has started rolling side to side when towing around 2 Ton at 55MPH. whould this point to shocks, as you have hinted that this may be the course of the knocking. Rob

It sounds very much the place I would be starting, and maybe look for a bigger leaf pack(Heavy Duty) for the rear. MQ Mad may be able to help with supply of springs.
