Howdy all,

Well, finally the Rig is set for the trip to fraser and future camping trips etc. After I think a total of (not kidding) 30 hours+ on Friday and Saturday of hard work. I would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to Scott (BigRig) and Jason (Peacemaker) who without their help and mechanical sense would have seen Patch (my truck) either set a light or dumped lol.

Both of you went above and beyond what anyone could ask. I thank you both very much for the time and effort you put into the car in such a short amount of time and sacrificing both days to help me. Also would like to thank Sandra for her great hospitality over the 2 days. Its very hard these days to find such good honest people willing to help for the love of Adventure and 4x4's.

My on going issue with the truck since day dot when it has come to mechanics (this is just the engine part lol) :).

First Mechanic (inspection) $330
Second Mechanic (fixed something??) $363
Third Mechanic (Gas Specialist) $900
Fourth Mechanic (Petrol/injector Secialist) $420
New MAF (genuine as short notice) $1100
Fifth Mechanic (Vehicle Not running) $180
New fuel tank and Pump fuel lines etc $500
2 x servicing to help find hassle $400
Total Approx $4193

Other Things done but memory gone.

ACTUAL PROBLEM THE WHOLE TIME!!!!!!!!!!
Throttle Position Sensor was dead $150

The car now runs like a dream.........

So I am a born again GQ lover and have had a smile on my face for the last 24 hours and find any excuse to go for a drive.

Thanks once more guys and I will see you all definitely the next camping trip (no more excuses lmao).

Ryan

Supremely glad it's sorted mate, and to see you happy with the rig and not wanting to get rid of it is thanks enough!!

Our list from the weekend:

- Pulled out the old cable release system for the swaybar disconnect and removed unit

- installed front swaybar and extended linkpins

- fabricated mounting plate for rear swaybar - tapped and mounted and installed rear swaybar with extended linkpins

- removed old rear panhard and installed extended panhard

- removed old petrol tank (tear in tank and dead fuel pump)

- reinstalled new petrol tank and had to create/adjust all 4 mounting points as it was (for some reason) different to my rig - fabricated mounting plates, tapped and welded into position

- ran new fuel lines as old fixed lines fouled the tank

- ran new tank wiring as old wiring dodgy and setup incorrectly (which Jase found out last night on my dinner table whilst inspecting the old pump that they had cable tied a new pump in the old sender unit and reversed the polarity of the wiring??).

- installed wheel spacer and new rear light from Ferret (nice setup!) - ran wiring and over ride switch to be able to turn on from console and in rear of truck

- installed 4 roof top spots on cargo rack - ran wiring to separate console switch

- reran front spotlight wiring to new switch

- repaired UHF wiring

- ran wiring and installed dual 12 volt outlet in rear cabin area

- installed rooftop pullout awning

- tested TPS and reset all error codes

- adjusted AAC and base idle

- adjusted ignition timing (advanced 4 degrees)

- full checkover - greased all nipples (except my own!! lmao) - threw a spanner over just about everything and cable tied just about everything!! lol

Doesn't sound that much when you read the list, but those mounts and fuel lines to get the tank on took about 8 hours itself, and the wiring was a nightmare for Jase. We finished up at just after 2am on Sunday morning after working on it Friday and starting at 7:30am on Saturday (first start and test run at 1:38am Sunday morning on the dot!!) and with the TPS done as Ryan said, it's turning into a bloody good truck ... more to do another day, but had a ball and thoroughly enjoyed the time!!

Have a great trip mate!!!

Holy Moly mate!!!

When are you blokes coming down my way...LMAO

Those bolts on the petrol tanks are a bloody nightmare too!!

Don't know if you want to let me loose on your rig with a spanner!!! lol ... As per Ryans list, I was about 8 down the run for people to look at it - he just ran out of mechanics to take it to so thought, what the hell, give him a crack!!! lmao

Nightmare indeed on the mounts - not one lined up, and when the front two were lined up on the crossmember (for drilling) the rear two were at least an inch away from their respective mounts - had to cut 6mm steel plates, weld them together in a small stack, hold the tank in place, mark it, take it all back out again, tap the threads through, put it all back in, mark the body, take it out ... you get the picture ... and the last mount unfortunately had to be welded to the upper crossmember with the tank in place (at 11:00pm at night, without a hoist, lying flat on my back straight under the weld ... hairy stuff ...).

And even with the mounts sorted, we had to cut out the fuel lines and re-run them as the fixed lines fouled the tank .. did that prior to the install though ... Love getting a face full of petrol!!! Lol

That said - what a weekend, what an experience, and great teamwork and great laughs (no one got the sh!ts on, although I started going a bit delirious late in the day - blame that on the 'petrol sniffing' though!!! lmao).

Copy, Very humble and appreciative. Was a whole lot of work in a small amount of time. Now I can relax and enjoy my time away whilst planning the fire bombing of various workshops LOL.

A mountain of work done in a short time, you guys are amazing.
My wife said she would be revisiting those mechanics on your list, she is real good at that.
Have a good holiday mate, Fraser is an awsome place.
Great to hear you are mobile.

when ya get back i want to tidy up the wiring in the back panel just a little. Its just a bit messy and can do with a bit of tape, tubing and cable ties. Just remember to keep a few cable ties in ya truck if you intend removing and refitting the roof light bar, its only 1 cable tie that has to be removed and replaced. how are you finding the UHF now, is it mounted in a better spot?

And we need to lift the brake proportioning valve also ...

Then we'll start on the leaks - one by one and knock them off ... power steering, transfer case, etc
