Hi friends just wondering if the diff ratios in the mq/mk patrols vary between the petrol and diesel models, and if so what are the ratios?

mines a turbo diesel and I have 4.3s
From what I have been reseaeching petrols are 4.6 and some diesels are 4.1.
Your ratio will be on a tin plate, on the drivers side inner guard right up the front.
mine says HG43 meaning the diff type and 4.3 ratio

no worries, I just picked up a diff out of a turbo diesel today and it is a 4.6 ratio.
could of had different diffs fitted thou, hard to say as it was just a chassis with the diffs but the guy wrecking it said it was a turbo diesel.

that's ok mate, wont take long to pop the centres out and count the teeth :smiley_thumbs_up:
thinking of swapping all the suspension, steering parts and both diffs out of my spare parts bus as all my ball joints are rooted, wheel bearings screwed, leafs out of wack etc etc

MQ l28/sd33 = 4.625
P40 (4 litre petrol) = 4.11
MK 4.33
MK ute (H260 diff) = 4.88
Theyre all interchangeable , EXCEPT the H260 rear diff

No need to count teeth, the info is on the out side edge of the crown wheel.
It will have number like this 35:8 35 crown wheel teeth 8 pinion teeth.
the one I pulled out of my mq has 35:8=4.375 and the one I got from the wreckers has 37:8=4.625

Just make sure the front and rear ratio are BOTH the SAME
