hi all, was looking at a 08 3crd for towing 2 ton caravan, has 150 ks ex mine vechile, 150ks on clock, but after reading tow reports on caravan web site now not so sure, also have the option of patrol 2000 model 4.2 non turbo ute 160ks , not really into modifying as such , im heading to the Pilbra in next month so needs to be reliable , also what fuel consumption can I budget on , thanx Barry Adelaide

I'm not sure what the fuel consumption would be, but I do know some of the 3ltr's have been known to be a tad thirsty, I'd personally go the 4.2 route even if it's a non turbo.............

I spoke with a bloke once who made $$ on the side cleaning, panel beating and putting new rims and tyres on ex coal mine vehicles.
He said that the dust in underground coal mines is very corrosive.
On that basis I'd check everywhere for rust and everywhere for bog.

Def the 4.2 for towing... Less strain and you can always fit an aftermarket turbo...
