Hi
Can anyone tell me what temperature I should have on my pyro gauge ?
running a zd30 3in exhaust with dawes and needle valve egr blocked and a auto.

With a load of 3 tonne pulling up a hill , the pyro reads 650 but most of the time 450 to 500.
Is this good or bad ?

Thank you in advance

What boost are you running?
I agree with Rod, lift off when you see 500-550 (post turbo).

Yav done most of the mods mate and that's good on the ZD30, but if ya pull it at 500 plus for extended periods, ya gunna melt number 3 piston, keep ya foot off or wind it back a bit, as Tony says, what boost are you running?

boost is 12-13 at 2000rpm max is 15-16 at 3500rpm or is the turbo spooling up to quick ?
all new to this so not sure if the dawes and needle valve is set up correctly.

If the turbo is spooling up too fast the boost will spike past maximum boost briefly before settling back to where it should be.

Do you think the same goes with the RD28t engine, I've always backed off around the 550 mark, but i've just always been scared that this is to much, it only really gets that hot driving up a long steep hill like the range on the Pac HWY around Byron, i've never seen any figures anywhere to go by, so i've never been positive. I've still got standard boost and standard exhaust, although a 2.3/4 beaudesert exhaust is my Xmas present, and then i'll up the boost a little, max it gets now as standard is 8.5psi.

Cheers,
Shaun...

On the way home from camping with fully Loaded car, fully loaded roof bag and fully loaded boat, temps peaked on the largest hill climb at 600C at 15 psi

Is this temperature limit of 500 - 550 the maximum for ALL engine types?

No deffinately not...

This all depends on the metals used in the engine construction, the bigger all cast engines I used to work on sat around 660degree's cent, 24hrs a day 365 days a year, we only ever stopped them for repairs or servicing.
