I have not fitted a AXT turbo so I can't really comment other than to say AXT have been in the turbo game for a long time so their product should be top quality.
If you put a turbo on a worn engine you're asking for trouble, the turbo will not perform to its full potential and the engine will rapidly deteriorate. You really need to be turboing a fresh engine. At low boost levels (up to 7Psi) and with a good intercooler you can get away with a standard spec engine, start turning up the boost and you really need to have a more highly developed engine with heavy duty pistons and rods, balanced bottom end and most likely reduced compression as well. Heavy duty clutches for manuals and modified transmissions and oil coolers for auto's will need to be considered as well.
How long it all lasts also depends how you drive it, drive it like a race car and you'll soon find out why race cars need rebuilding more often than road cars.
