Hey, my gq is not running on petrol, i've disconnected the hose from the fuel pump and found that it's not pumping fuel. i've looked at new ones and to get a mechanical one like the one i've got. is almost $300 where a generic electric pump is $115. why is there such a massive differance in price. and is there a diffeerance in quality.
it's an old truck whats the likelyhood of the fuel line being blocked at the tank.

Not sure on the difference mate, but you'd need to test the pump with a multimeter I assume to know if it's dead or not (again, not sure how to do this, but there are various threads on the topic on here - just can't cut and paste them for you as I'm on the old iPhone) ... that would rule out the pump and you could look at blockages, but I would be thinking the pump is the problem ...

His fuel pump is mechanical Scott, nothing to test with a multimeter.
I've never swapped from mechanical to electric fuel pumps (both of my GQ's were EFI) but I'm sure it can be done, you only need a low pressure pump.
It is possible you have a blockage at the pick up, under the carpet in the rear floor of the car is a removable panel that will give you access to the fuel pick up panel in the top of the fuel tank. Pull the sender out and have a look. Disconnect the fuel line at the front of the car as well and blow the fuel line out to clear any blockages.
