Hi - I've had the GU ZD30 for about 2 weeks and I have done approx 600kms so far.
The engine is approxd 30,000kms is a brand new crate engine from nissan (form previous owner).

On the weekend before a drive I noticed the dipstick a little low (it was sitting just below the normal range on the GU stick). I topped it up with oil to the top of the normal range.

After driven about 350km on the weekend I rechecked the oil under similar conditions (i.e. level ground, engine started and warmed up, oil level checked) tonight and noticed the oil level back to just below the normal range).

I have checked for obvious leaks but don't see any, I just hosed down the engine and underneath and moved the truck to a new sport after topping the oil up again (approx 500ml to 3/4 normal range) to see for any drips, level tomorrow.

Any ideas?

Hi mahew
I'm having a similar weird sort of problem with oil level. I had been checking oil regularly and all OK but one day I checked after car was parked all night and level was at bottom mark. No leaks and I feared that i'd burnt the oil. I topped up to mark and then ever since the oil level has been reading way past the full mark???. The owner manual say to wait for a few minutes before checking. If you check when fist stopped the oil level is low as it hasn't drained back to the sump yet.
I dumped some oil out yesterday and ran car and waited a few minutes - no oil reading at all? After about a couple hours sitting it read at low mark. Checked this morning and oil level is near full mark???

Maybe you have same issue as me - how the hell do you check oil level on these engines? Anyoone had similar experience ? If I follow the manual then after sitting overnight the oil level is way past full???

Thx
Barney
