Hi everyone.

I did timing chain kit on my 2012 Nissan Patrol GU Y61 Wagon ZD30DDTI CRD and the Haynes workshop manual says tensioner bolts are 25-28nm. But when tightening it didnt even get there before bolt snapped. I have come across a couple of other mistakes in the manual and I know the older Patrols have bigger bolts for tensioner so I am wondering if they have given that figure instead by mistake. I have ordered a Gregorys workshop manual but looks like it wont come until after weekend which is too late. Would anyone out there have torque specs from another workshop manual to confirm the specs?

Thank you so much in advance. 😊👍

You can download a full factory Manual from this site for free mate. all 1200pages.

25nm is not very tight mate! are you sure you had your torque wrench at the correct setting?

I would be looking at the integrity of the bolt in all honesty, as MudRunnerTD says, its not a big torque, perhaps the bolt had a stress notch or had been rattled up previously beyond its elastic limit? Does the kit come with new bolts, like a 'use once and discard' scenario?

I have not done this task myself, but have bad experience with torque to yield bolts and once only torque bolts and its not a directive to be ignored. The other thing to look at is whether the bolts are factory Nissan or replacements at some stage?

Keen to hear how you get on and what you find.
