hi
i have found some timber and planning on making a knife holder out of it but struggling with identifying it.
its heavy, makes red gum feel light.
found it in my dads shed so no clue where its from.
80 grit sandpaper polishes it.
any help figuring out what it is would be great.

Hi garett .
Dense you say, if it turns out to have a high silica content, ie hard to work, blunts tools quickly, it could well be Brushbox. All box timbers are quite heavy and the colour looks right
Check what timbers are local. If the old fella has had it a while it may have come from a local mill.
