Hi all
It’s been a long time since I posted anything, basically due to my Troll behaving itself and never letting me down! That is till now.
I own a March 2008 Y61 ST 3.0 litre turbo Patrol that sometimes but not always starts first time. She gets serviced every 10,000 km and has the following mods. 3 inch Exhaust, EGR blocked, Oil Catch-can (probably need emptying as its not been done in a long time).
She has always been a fantastic starter, turn the key a touch of gas and she roars into action, however over the last three months she’s been misbehaving. She’ll start first time, I’ll nip down the road (less than 2 km) to my local IGA and on return to start her, she makes all the right moves and roars into action for a second or two and promptly dies. On restarting her she doesn’t seem to have the same roar factor and struggles to engage. At first I thought it was a battery issue so engaged the push button Projecta 150 amp and tried again. Up she roars as if nothing is wrong. I took her for a 30min drive averaging 100km per hour and she is fine for a week or so, then does the same again. I had the batteries checked and the crank battery is all good but the AUX is only registering 10 amps. A new battery (Deep cycle installed) and I think the problem is fixed, no such luck. She was due a service so I contacted my mechanic who thought it was more likely to be a fuel issue. Serviced and a new fuel pump installed and she has been fine for 5 days. Both myself and my mechanic are sure it's all sorted.
That was until today when the same thing happened. I’m at a loss now and wondered if this issue has happened to anyone else. It’s getting to be an expensive issue. Can anyone shed any light on the problem?
By the way I bought the car 7 Years ago at 50,000 KMS (Ex SES so probably taken out of the garage washed and put back) she's only got 117,000 kms on the clock.
