Looking to purchase a used y62 series 3, 4 or 5. Is there anything that I should be keeping in mind or looking out for when inspecting?

Are there any mechanical/engine differences in models/years and any to avoid (for example how they fixed the timing chain issue in 2013).

Also I’m looking to keep this one for the next 10 years and get it to over 300000kms. Is this a realistic goal?

Thanks guys.

Hello! I am also looking for a Y62 (series 4 or 5 preferably). From what I've read, from the 3 series onwards, the reliability is really good, especially at the engine/transmission level. The V8 is strong, but it is necessary to check the maintenance (oil changes, liquids, etc.). The car box holds up well if it has been well maintained. The suspensions can tire over time, especially if the vehicle has done a lot of off-piste. If it is to go up to 300,000 km, a good maintenance history is essential. I think it is doable with a good regular follow-up.
