Is the end of Nissan even conceivable??

Let’s hope Honda and Nissan come to an agreeable partnership. Holy smokes the quality output that pair would create!
If the worst case scenario happens and Nissan goes down, I don’t even want to think about it. Our Patrols might spike in value, but without spare part availability they may go through the floor too.
I would have placed money on car manufacturers that have hung their hats on the EV hook, like Volvo, to be the first to turn turtle.

What surprises me is that Nissan is always not the money they need. Wasn't the Renault partnership because of the same reason? They make some cool cars, so WTF...

I know we all love, or have loved our Patrols...BUT .... Nissan have always struck me as one of the more arrogant vehicle manufacturers, one where owners of their vehicles have to fight to get warranty work done & a company which does it's best not to fulfil it's responsibilities to it's customers. Customers more often left to the goodwill (or otherwise) of individual dealers.
Personally I'd be happy to own a Patrol again in the future, but I'd never buy a new one (if that were still possible).
If Nissan go to the wall, I don't think it will be the quality of their product that is the reason, more it's failure to cultivate a loyal customer base.

I've recently seen a youtube account of a Toyota owner having to wait months for a diagnosis of a failed engine bearing. It seems as if it's across the board nowadays.

You are dead set tripping if you believe that a modern Toyoda/and or any other variant could achieve off grid reliability needs [emoji2961][emoji23]

Spot on Cuppa.
From about 2005, I worked with a woman who previously worked in the service reception at a new car dealership that had Nissan and Holden brands. Her comment was in warranty work, that Holden would do almost anything to keep the customer happy but Nissan would make it very difficult if not impossible.
There is the problem if that situation is world wide.
