This is quite interesting! Could anyone recommend a scanner with good functionality at a reasonable price. That says Japanese only, isn't OBD2 a standard?

I use the cheapo one from 4wdsupacentre, it's very limited. If I was recommending I'd say "spend more and get one with more sensor readouts" such as a scanguage 2/3

It also depends on what ability the car has to be tuned via OBD. Just because it has an OBD connection, it doesn't mean it can be used for everything. I just use OBD link and I can access everything that is available via an ipad along with any fault codes and clearing of fault codes .. I can have all the systems up in a split screen on the ipad and also navigation maps at the same time. I can also see real time temperature rather than fitting a gauge :-)
