Just got myself a 1999 Patrol with the RD28 TD. I've found a lot of handy threads etc so signed up. I have just done the cam belt, water pump, tensioner etc, replaced the crank oil seal and bolt. Shortly after the car died while driving. Ran like shit and now wont start! I thought id fucked the belt change up but timing was all OK?! took out the crank sensor to clean and noticed a small grove worn into the plastic...... Then remembered getting the crank cog/gear off was a bastard and Knocked off a steel ring with 3 teeth on it, well turns out I didn't get it back on and secured properly and it was the reluctor ring for the sensor was completely loose and free spinning. A little metal dust but not bad. Anyway I'm pretty sure that's my issue its just an absolute arse to get Patrol parts in the UK. I'm hoping to get one off Nissan tomorrow and get her running again. Failing that I'm going to have to have a go at welding it on while I order one from down under or the Emarates.
