Does a timing chain need adjustment or replacement on 4.2 TDI GU 340.000 klms have ticking noise from front of motor

Theres no chain mate. All gear driven thankfully. As for the ticking, it could possibly be the injector pump. While a idle, if the engine ticks at idle, pump the primer on the fuel filter head. If the tick goes away I would say its fuel related. Tis how i found tourettes my TD had....

Run some 2-stroke oil through it. If it quietens down after a few fills, you'll know it's fuel related like pump or injectors. And it'll be purring like a kitten.
