Pulled apart the drivers side front hub to replace axle seal and other stuff.

Was removing the bearings out of the front hub and this fell out:

87886

It's not a bearing race, it looks like a machined spacer. I can't see where it goes in any of the workshop manuals I've looked at.

I have a 2013 Patrol, CRD.

Any thoughts???

Quick update for others. It's called an egg hub spacer ring.

I've read that it's not required with the auto hubs, only the manual hubs and vice versa. My Patrol has (modified) auto hubs and has that spacer from factory, so I guess it's required.

Wrong, see below for CORRECT identification.

Edit: Look like you got it mate. I was wrong about it being the outer race.

I am curious though about your Auto hub mod that requires the spacer. It's usually just a butcher job prying the auto part out of it to manualize it.

Nope, I got it wrong.

It's an alignment spacer that sits in the auto hub body. It helps to centre the autohub up with the hub, it stops the autohub slipping around on the hub within the free space provided by the slop/slack with the autohub mounting bolts, the spacer makes it align more precisely.

Yes the Egg Ring is about twice that size. Sounds like you have it sorted. Apologies for not being here

Hey, no apology needed. The best thing about solving problems yourself is that you remember what you discover. If you get told, you tend to not remember it as well, that's what happens to me anyway.

I've never pulled out a CV before, so this entire process is a great learning experience.
