Hi guys. I have 1993 gq td42 with automatic transmission. Last month i done a river crossing and ruined my transmission. gears not changing in D. But can Manually put 1,2 and over drive. Doesn't exceed limit 40kmh in 'D' and rev more than 3000rpm when trying to go more than 40kmh and doesn't change gears.

1.I have checked Transmission control module.(bought a working one from gq TD auto)
2.checked AT fuse in driver side kick panel. is there any other fuses related to AT????
2.checked AT oil, good red and not pink cream. (but have leakings on bellhousing and sump after the trip.)
3. checked solonoids after removing valve body.

I don't know its a mechanical or electrical issue.
i want to keep the auto. i really love my gq. i did most of the work on my car and keep learning everything in gq patrols. im not a mechanic and im a chef. I painted it my self, done quaterchop, done more customised works myself.

Im trying to fix it by myself.

Any thoughts on this guys?
if not suggest me a good auto electrician/mechanic with fair price. Im not rich 😕.
How much does it cost to rebuild a re4 gear box or put a new transmission? can i put a re4 from a GU. My gq has low stall torque conveter to suit TD and ribbed bellhousing from factory.

im from oakleigh, Victoria.

Thank you

Welcome to the forum. Maybe moisture and crud in the wiring loom connectors. If water got into the cab, there are loom connectors under the passenger seat which may still be wet.
