Forum down this Sunday 5th Nov - Downgrading

Hi Folks,

The forum has quietened down over the years unfortunately and as a result I need to downgrade the server from a dedicated server to shared hosting.

It shouldn't effect the forum's performance but we just need to reduce the costs of using a dedicated server that isn't really required anymore.

The forum will be offline on this Sunday 5th November at 8pm onwards to migrate across to a new server.

Bit of a scary move so wish me luck lol

Yeah just had to point the Dns back to our original server.

Something major went wrong and we just need to work out what has opened first.

Yep sorry folks we had to migrate the whole server across again and it was gigantic which basically munched all the available memory.

Take 2 on the migration again, we are rolling it over tonight but not changing the dns so anything posted from 8pm tonight to 9am tomorrow will not be saved to the forum, I'll keep everyone in the loop on its progress.

No it was another disaster unfortunately.

I forgot to tell everyone.

It all moved across to the new server but it didn’t work again, some weird errors and bugs.

My developer has no idea either, it’s the same set up, same php version and all settings exactly the same.

It’s some kind of issue with the Vbulliten software.

I’m just leaving it for now and need to research more.

The forum has now been updated and some settings tweaked so it should run a lot faster.

I did just notice it crashed just before but I havent seen this happen again.

If anyone experiences any issues with the forum please let me know.

Yes it was off line at 5.30am until just now. I cried at times.

Yeah them naughty memory maxing out Bots, evil yeah. Glad they are banned, they won't come back, taught em a lesson I reckon BOSS MAN.
