using ECU to control intercooler fan

Here's my thinking,

The big thermo fan up front is controlled by the ECU. I could piggyback a relay from it's relay and viola :1087:

Why not just use a relay for the IC fan, and wire it in to the ignition power? Whats the advantage of wiring into the ECU?

is your thinking that always on is better?
