Our 1998 GU patrol Y61 is running on petrol (sub) and LPG (main tank), however its running fine on the sub, but does not on the main-gas tank. We've looked quite thoroughly and can't seem to diagnose anything broken, apart from that it could be the solenoid that's causing issues.

Problem now is, where to find a solenoid to replace and fix it so we can actually use our patrol properly. Does anyone have any idea, suggestions, advice on what solenoid to get - TB45 - whether there's any compatible aftermarket ones, and or where to find one?!

Thanks heaps

Can you see a part number or system name on the gas hardware? If not I would simply take it to a gas fitter - they would likely instantly diagnose the issue. Can you manually activate the gas solenoid to check if it is working, pull the loom connectors off and run a jumper to pos/neg and see if the solenoid is the problem - no click, its dead. One guess point sorted.

Gas conversions can be a can of worms, depending on who did the job. If you don't find that it is a solenoid you might have to check the whole gas wiring loom. Some problems to look for are loose connectors, loose earths and wiring that has worn through to earth, or another wire. It will be a tedious job but may yield results. You might even prevent future issues too.
