Hi, names jackson. just bought a gq tb42 with very minimal rust as my first 4x4 vehicle. its carby, has bugger all rust but still rough around the edges as youd expect. wondering if anyones delt with auto choke probblems maaking them idle at 1100rpm then once warm no idle at all? really has me stumped carny seems fine whole way through the rev range just hates idling or will chop around like its got a massive cam. cheers in advance forums been very helpful so far :)

Welcome to the forum. Check that the choke break diaphragm is connected, has no cracks in the vacuum line, or the diaphragm isn't cracked or holed. It is the little unit on the top rear of the carby. You will need access to a vacuum pump to test it. If it isn't working it will not pull the choke into the off position. Nearly a decade ago, there was a place that could recondition the unit, but you might still find someone that does it now.
