Below is Timbos document..................

Caution with drink bottles

Our own little terrorists.

Various reaction equations show the generation of hydrogen gas from
aluminium and sodium hydroxide. The reaction produces pressure in a
sealed volume. Shaking promotes the speed of reaction.

"Perth Kids have started putting Drano, tin foil, and a little water in
plastic drink bottles and capping it up - leaving it on lawns, in mail
boxes, in gardens, on driveways etc.
Just waiting for you to pick it up intending to put it in the rubbish, but
you'll never make it! !!
If the bottle is picked up, and the bottle is shaken even just a little - in
about 30 seconds or less it builds up enough gas which then explodes
with enough force to remove some of your extremities.
The liquid that comes out is boiling hot as well.
Don't pick up any plastic bottles that may be lying in your yards or in
the gutter, etc.

Please pass this information onto your family and friends and
workmates, this information could safe someone allot if grief and pain.

them perth kids are a little on the slow slide, us druitt boys were using C4 back in my days as a teen *LMAO*

I remember making black powder in my bedroom, on one occasion I got carried away with the mortar and pestle and it ignited, I threw it out my bedroom window, shoved a towel against the door and then sprayed my room with deodorant 2 disguise the smell of something burning. Mum was home and none the wiser :)

Them were the days :):):)

We used to do this a fair bit as kids. Not leaving the bottles sealed lying around for people to find but the gas that is given off is hydrodgen. We would put a balloon (or condom) over the top of the bottle and fill it up with the gas then watch it fly away. Chemistry 101.
