Howdy all.
Looking to replace my factory turbo with a Garrett and just wanted to know the basics of what I need to do the changeover. I have a fair idea but wanted to get everything right in my head before I go talking to the installer and tuner (different shops)
I already have a large top mount intercooler and 3" exhaust with catch can. I have also attached the dyno sheet from when these mods were done.
Has anyone done this before and is there a thread where the topic is covered already?
Cheers

It’s fairly straightforward mate. Are you sticking with the original injector pump? If so this will limit your turbo choices I think. I’m no expert on this stuff.
nissannewby is the man. Hopefully he chimes in.

Thanks Mudski.
Original injector pump as I`m not looking for high gains, just better towing and a more responsive vehicle.
Yeah I have messaged him and I have read a few of his answers and he is north Brisbane as well.

Ok. Change of plans. I have sold the Garrett after having too many hassles getting all the xtras required and will now go with a UFI 16g which has most of the extras.
All I need now is the intake side. Thinking of going with a Radius 4" in/out panel filter.
Am I better off sourcing 4" piping in silicone bends or getting metal piping made up? I have been trying to find a full premade metal pipe but not having much luck.
Reason for me sourcing all of this is that it will all be packed up here in Brisbane and taken to my installer/tuner in NQ for him to install. He has asked me to get as much as possible for the job.

I really doubt the friction coefficient (or whatever) between 4" silicone and (any other material) will make a shag of difference to air flow over such short distances at such low pressures.
Silicone will have more "give" for the installer, and the installation... so you won't see so much things vibrating loose, or potentially rubbing on other parts.
So, my unhelpful advice is "whatever's easiest, man"
