Well, I figured I would start one of these since it seemed weird to continue in the introductions. Not a whole lot done as of yet. I have just replaced the door switch rubbers, and the steering dampener. I have refreshed the outside rear vents with black bumper and trim paint. Went to play with the rear sway bar disconnect and it was really hard to pull. So I took a look underneath and low and behold no rear sway bar at all. Don't know what it's supposed to drive like but it seems to drive just fine without it. Looking at buying the Resonator assembly and air duct. due to not having the Resonator(precleaner) and my air duct being shot. Anybody used amayama. com for their own parts? well that's it for now. Had one of my windows able to go down. but wouldn't go up. so I took it apart and it seemed like there was a little to much give were the metal gear met up with the plastic gear. I disassembled the entire thing. there are two snap rings one that holds the metal gear in to the plastic and one that spaces it away from the plastic gear. removed the spacer snap ring and sandwiched it between two spacers and reinstalled the retaining snap ring. now the window works great up and down. 863718637286373863748637586376863778637886379

Man, those wheels look so nice!
Amayama Trading is a good site for sure. Megazip and Partsouq are as well. Megazip have some nice offers from time to time. For example, they were having a blackfriday special last week or so.

I've shitcanned swaybars (front and rear) and had no issues. I don't race it, it has as much body roll as I'd expect 30 year old beam-axled tractors to have :D.
No lift on mine though.

If cable disconnect (or, any cable) hard to actuate:
the process is to remove it, hang it up with a funnel full of oil going in the top, (sealed to the cable sheath with plasticine or hot glue or whatever) and when the oil starts dripping out the bottom, give it a bit of the in-and-out, then re-install.

Or for 9 dolars use a bike cable lubing tool and do the job in place, without removing the cable.

Interesting, I'd never seen one before.

Think I'll manage to live without one though, since I made it this far. :D

For those that have 24v systems. where are you hooking up your stereo for constat/battery power. The previous one was hooked to the ignition. But after about a minute there was a loud pop and some smoke. On another note check out the janky speakers that were in it. 86383

Wow that looks like a comms speaker only. What's the history of your Safari? Japanese Authority or Government use?

MudRunnerTD for 24V question. He converted his Y60 from 12 to 24V but not sure if he runs a stereo.

Pretty sure it was a civilian use vehicle. All other speakers were stock.

Cheers Plas.

Sorry mate my GQ actually is a 12v car. I run a second 24v Alternator supplying a 24v bank batteries specifically for thr winch (and Engel fridge). The 24v Alternator has a 12v wxcite circuit.

If you are just looking for supply then off the back of your cigarette lighter will be ignition switched. Alternatively you could just grab a fused supply straight from the fuse board in the drivers kick panel.

If you want a constant supply I would just run a new supply from the battery.

Unfortunately the cigarette lighter is also 24v. I've been reading it might be bad to have a draw off of just one battery in a dual battery 24v system. But I'm new to 24v systems so I could be wrong.

Installed some Kilmat sound deadener on the floor pan today.
It took 50sq ft to do the whole floor and a little on the sides. Found a bit of rust just forward of both rear wheel wells. Will have to cut out and replace eventually. But a quick fix for now. Just some rust converter and rattle can. Is that area common for rusting out?

Took the Safari out for some red dirt fun. might have been a little too wet for this clay like mud. I didn't break anything but definitely want to put some lockers in. One of the jeeps wasn't so lucky, broke one of the rear shock mounts. http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/12/41.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/12/42.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/12/43.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/12/44.jpg

That seems to have been really fun! I'd say the jeep was too lucky to have broken just the mounts, LOL. They are not patrol-strong.

You’ll convert some of your Jeep mates over to real 4x4s soon hopefully! Looks great.

I decided to take the super wide fender flares of due to the front left one being broken and flapping in the wind when I drive around. looks like it m in the market for some wheel run repair plates. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221230/b29678a39e2a2727102de6c24e43cf98.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221230/3b2a5881a169487b333c8fd8b142782f.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2022/12/45.jpg

For those that have 24v systems. where are you hooking up your stereo for constat/battery power.

Theres a converter in the passenger side kick panel that feeds the OEM clock, and the instrument cluster. This has ON/ACC/Constant outputs at 12V. I shitcanned the 30 year old one and replaced it with a beefy 20A (?) one from jaycar. (I run head unit, amp, phone/radio/gps chargers etc off it)
If you search "DC-DC buck converter" you'll find something.

Just have to watch as at least one new stereo I've seen (sony I think) has the "constant" (what used to be "memory") power as the main feed, and the ACC is just a trigger. So that would smoke the original converter unless you did some bodgy workaround with relays.

Or do the inverse of what MR says and slap a 12V alternator and battery system in there somewhere for the legacy gear.
(Just have to remember you need wiring approx twice as big if using half the voltage)

Confucious say:
If it breaks, Build it stronger.

If it doesn't, Drive it harder.

Well damn. Just had the driver window regulator crap out with the window down. Can't have that here in Guam. It rains way too much. On a positive note these are easy to work on. I removed the window regulator and did the pin modification/repair to tide me over until I can get a new one shipped in.

Steve, one good thing is that the power window is actually a power "handle". If you remove the motor and expose the splined axle, you can actually replace it with a handle from a manual window (from whatever car that fits) and have the window operating manually while you work out the new power unit.

My issues wasn't with the motor it was with the splined shaft on the geared side. There is an aluminum pressed on fitting that turns the gear that moves the window up and down. Eventually the pressed on fitting breaks free from the splined shaft and no longer turns the gear. I drilled through the aluminum fitting into the splined shaft inserted a ss pin. Used a center punch to mushroom it out and now have a working window regulator.

Refreshed my indicator lights today. Started with 3600 grit sanding pad and went all the way up to 12000 grit. Then a little bit of polish and they look new. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230107/7975353b2e3befc25f91166075705a9e.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2023/01/4.jpg

Well Sasquatch is in the shop for some much needed rust repair. I did some diy fiber glass repair but wasn't satisfied with the results. I couldn't get the fender savers I found shipped to me for a decent price. So I found a local panel beater shop to get it fixed. http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2023/03/8.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2023/03/9.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2023/03/10.jpg
