Hi gents. Well I have stripped ans rebuilt my GQ a couple of times cause well I like it and I wreck my shit. Lol.

So last year I did the $1000 track in West Coast Tassie and my navi was asleep and I trowelled my front passenger Door. Now I'm guilty of this too so it happens to the best of us. Lol.

I picked up another front passenger Door on Friday off FB Marketplace. $100 and im happy to still be in front. Lol

I have stripped this Door ready for some paint this week. While stripping my door on the car I noted the Side Impact Rail built into the door. I have seen this on all my doors which is fine..... but the new door Doesn't have it!!!!

Anyone know when Nissan Added the Side Impact protection? Mine is a 1992 Mav but no chance Ford fitted this. I did not know this was an upgrade damn it!! Now not so keen on the new door

Anyone ever reskinned a door?

Are you 100% sure Dazman that that water pipe isn’t a forgotten integral part of your B pillar upgraded bilge hole system?

Lol. Nah mate it is in both front doors. Side Impact protection. I have the inner skin off the rear door too and it is not in the rear side doors, just the front doors. 8 had never considered that it wasn't on every door to be honest! Maybe series 2 and Mavs got it. What year is Phils. Does his front doors have this?

I’ll check my baby mav tomorrow, had heard a rumour in the day the deal was for extra bits and bobs for the ute swap.

Mine is a June 1997 build, unsure on bars though, have not got that far.

Realistically how much protection would that pissy little bar provide? For low speed scrapes maybe but actual side impact I'd say bugger all if anything mate.

Yeah never noticed that in my 1992 vintage Mav or whatever vintage the RHS replacement from years ago previous misadventure doors are either. .

Appears there may well be an extra bar in the 1989 SWB Ford Maverick?

Bugger all to be honest but in 1992 it was next gen... lol. It's interesting to look in the door Without the bar though!!! There is literally 2 pieces of panel steel between you and whatever hits you... cars have come a long way!!
