Licola 2022 Book in here - 19th August to 22nd August

Take 3 as we missed out in previous years due to Covid!

We are booked in to the Licola Wilderness Village from Friday 19th August to Monday 22nd August this year.

It's the only time we have the entire place to ourselves and have booked cabins 1 to 6 right next to the main camp kitchen.

I need to get numbers down please ASAP so I can book it in with them so can you please vote above.

We stay in 2, 3 and 4 bedroom cabins with double beds, bunk beds, etc.

Each cabin has toilets and showers, etc. Some have fridges and a huge dedicated cabin with all the appliances and cutlery to suit hundreds of people, tables and chairs, etc and a huge fire pit for us to enjoy!

This is a very family orientated trip, kids are more than welcome and usual there are dozens of kids coming, they LOVE IT!

There are playgrounds, trampolines, etc at the facility.

So being as we are edging closer to this fabled trip, I need some advice possibly. So I will have 3 kids with me. The oldest being 7 and the youngest being 18 months. Do I need to be looking at any specific clothing for warmth with them? Also any specific vehicle requirements while in the licola area. I obviously have a 4wd but things like fuel requirements or snow chains? It does get cold up here but the only long pants I own are work pants and a pair of jeans lol.

Oh YAY yeah can't wait should be good. . Hopefully good bit of snow up the top so warm clothes a must, pants, beanie jacket and gloves. . Work pants will be fine. Will have a roaring fire back at the village so that will be toasty as. . Fuel will be fine just fill up at Heyfield don't even need adative for diesel as not staying up the top Rd is dirt too so no need for chains. . Usually have the option of an afternoon 4WD loop down B1 track & Mt Margaret or head back down to village for arvo relax whatever floats each others boats. .

Don’t bother spending big money on snow gear for this trip. As Rossco kindly mentioned our base camp is below 300mASL and generally quite warm, especially around Sprockstar’s bonfires and cabins have heaters.
Up top at Arbunkle Junction Saturday Fun Day (circa 1,400m ASL) we’re honestly only a few hours outside of vehicles for Littlens fun.
We’ve always survived with our Hillbilly Littlens wearing cheap plastic cover pants, gumboots and gaffa tape joints [emoji23]
Plenty of thick socks, gloves and replacement tracky dacks would suffice IMHO [emoji1696][emoji1696]

There is a couple of bags of hand me down snow gear that has been passed around over the last couple of years as the tribe grows up. Has anyone got extra snow gear that woyld suit Mattys kids.

Kids are 7, 5 and 1. The 7 year old is still wearing size 6 clothes. The 5 year old is wearing size 5 clothes and the 1 year old is between size 1 and 2. Shoes sizes are boys size 13/1, boys size 12 and baby toddler size 5

I’m pretty sure there was only heating in the main area- lounge room so bring heaters & extension cords for the bedrooms, keep it simple cos to many high powered heaters & lights etc temds to pop the circuit breakers from memory.

Yeah they put heating in the main room but then there’s fan forced vents that duct the air into each room. From memory it didn’t work all that well.

What a Bloody Great Weekend Gents and Wenches !!!


On the way out the gate today was talking to the bloke about the other houses and his plans for another fire pit.

We talked about the Snow and he reckons he was Snowed in in June. He recommended June/July forntye best Snow. I said yeah bugger we clashed with another booking and couldn't get the date. He said his book was EMPTY!! Well that's no good!!

So we are BOOKED 21st to 24th July 2023
Houses 1 to 6 ans the Camp Kitchen.

Yeah how bloody cold was it when we finally came out onto the main rd? My outside temp display said 1.8c. Colder than what we got the day before when we were looking for snow.

It was great to see you again mate. Watching your Triton on racing slicks do those slippery sections on Sunday arvo's run was entertaining. That attempt on the last section before we got out was almost short of a miracle. You gave it the berries and I was sure you were getting out on your own steam. You were inches away from wiping out your rear tub and canopy on that turn just before you stopped too. Damn it was close...

I think everyone has paid up now, as we all found out that the place wanted a one lump payment, not us to pay individually like we always have been doing. Lazy much? I need to go thorough our list. Well I made it home all safe and sound. Just under 4400km driven. Kids had a great time although being not well at all times. Company was good and the singing even better lol. I huge shout out to Nic and Tegan. They put a roof over my family and I's head prior to Licola. Was a huge help and we appreciate it a lot. Another thanks to Darren for putting on great feed on the wednesday night when I was there making sure the GQ really existed lol.

It was a great weekend that I thought was well to short and not enough snow :p lol. Was nice to put some more faces to names and share some crackin yarns. I hope everyone sorts out there little electrical gremlins easily and I look forward to hopefully participating in years to come. I will throw up some pics the wife grabbed on her camera hope you guys like them.

We talked about the Snow and he reckons he was Snowed in in June. He recommended June/July forntye best Snow. I said yeah bugger we clashed with another booking and couldn't get the date. He said his book was EMPTY!! Well that's no good!!
